Topic: old flame

I recently found an old flame on myspace. We haven't had contact in over ten years. Over the last week, we've sent dozens of emails a day and had one phone conversation for an hour and a half. She's married, I'm single. Today, I addressed the 800 pound gorilla in the room. I still think she's as beautiful as she ever was. She freaked out! She's insinuating that I have some sinister agenda to ruin her life. I thought I was complementing her, but I may have just abruptly ended our happy reunion.

I can't help that I still find her attractive. There's no physical way we could hook up again, so why the drama? My intention was to have a unique, electronic pen-pal. Someone that can empathize with some child rearing issues and be able to vent to one another...apparently not.

I've tried to convince her that I have no hidden agenda, but she's not buying it. It's outta hand. Is there any way I can reign this in and calm her down?

Help.

Re: old flame

I would have been flattered to have been told I still look just as good now as I did ten years ago.  I think she over reacted.  Perhaps she does have trouble in the marriage and with your comment, you gave her a new playing field. Meaning, now that she knows she still has "it" maybe she feels stronger, better about herself and she can confront her demons.  Whatever the issue is, something is going on in her head.  I would give it a day or two before you email her again.   Women can be strange.  Do you even live near by?

Re: old flame

Thank you for the response, Happy Spring.
No, we do not live near by. We're about 300 miles apart.
